What personal data we collect and why we collect it
Comments
Comments are disabled on most of this site except for members-only discussion forums. When visitors do leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
We only save information that the user provides via registration/account setup and any forum participation in a secure setting. Cookies are created for the session for the duration of cookie settings in the user’s browser.
Media
This website does not allow visitors to upload media except for a profile picture for the members-only discussion forum.
Contact forms + mailing lists
This website collects contact information through contact forms. We do not collect any other contact information and do not share contact information provided to us with any third parties. We do store our mailing list on a third-party server.
Embedded content from other websites
Some pages on this site may include embedded content (mostly, videos from Vimeo or Youtube). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
Analytics
We collect data on how many unique visitors and hits our website pages receive. We do not collect data on individual visitors.
Who we share your data with
We do not share your data with any third parties unless it is deemed necessary for coordinating event registration with co-organizers of our events.
How long we retain your data
Because commenting has been disabled everywhere possible on the site except for private discussion forums and mailing lists, any other comments received or posted to this site are inevitably spam and are generally deleted as soon as noticed by the administrator.
What rights you have over your data
If you have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also erase any account data we hold about you on your “Account Details” page. Once you request that we delete your user account, all your information will be removed from our database. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
If you have joined the mailing list, you may unsubscribe at any time by using the unsubscribe link in the emails. We use MailChimp to generate our newsletter. Any contact information you have provided will be completely deleted from our database at that time.
Where we send your data
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service. If you submit contact information or participate in dialogues in our discussion forums, this data will be shared with our event co-organizers for the sole purpose of coordinating the events.
